You can use interlibrary loan to request and obtain items not found in OSU Libraries (Valley, Guin, and OSU-Cascades) or in the Summit catalog. Interlibrary loan (ILL) is available to currently-registered OSU students, current and emeritus faculty, and staff with a valid ONID account. OSU Libraries pay for the cost of providing materials from other libraries; your local public library, however, provides ILL services for non-academic needs, residents and businesses.
ILL is for books, master's theses, selected dissertations, and photocopies of a specific journal article or conference proceeding article. Many reference materials, textbooks, recordings, videocassettes, and whole volumes of journals are not available due to the policies of the lending library, but it is highly recommended that requests be submitted regardless of material type.
Popular textbook titles are hard to get. Expect long delays or cancellations. ILL cannot serve as a substitute source for current course material. Any item on course reserve is considered available and will not be filled as an ILL request.
