That's why we offer a variety of study spaces throughout campus to cater to your study needs and preferences. Below, you'll find all the information you need to know about our available study spaces, including their locations, hours of availability, and amenities. As always, be respectful of others by keeping noises low, cleaning up after use, and refraining from occupying study rooms for long periods of time.

Residence Hall Lounge

The Residence Hall first floor lounge is a great study space for students who prefer to socialize, play games, or workout in between study sessions. Located next to the Fitness Center, this space is equipped with a variety of couches, tables, and chairs. It also features a pool table, foosball table, kitchenette, and several televisions. Plus, its proximity to the Residence Hall makes it convenient for those who live on campus.

  • This study space is available to students Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with keycard access. It is also open to commuter students on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Resident students can always access the Residence Hall with keycard access.

 

Beaver Dam and Study Grounds

Located in Obsidian Hall, the Beaver Dam and Study Grounds are comfortable spaces for students to study, relax, and socialize. The Beaver Dam offers full meal service during normal business hours, while the Study Grounds offers morning drinks and pastries. There is a variety of comfy seating, tables and chairs, and technology-equipped booths for individual or group study sessions. Plus, both spaces have a variety of amenities, including power outlets, high speed internet, and natural lighting.

  • These study spaces are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and accessible to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access Obsidian Hall on the weekends from 8am to 10 p.m. with keycard access

Tykeson Hall Lobby

The Tykeson Hall Lobby is a popular study space for students who prefer a comfortable and social environment. With its cozy seating options and natural lighting, this space is perfect for casual studying, socializing, or relaxing between classes.

  • This study space is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access Tykeson Hall on the weekends from 8 am to 10 p.m. with keycard access.

 

Tykeson Hall Study Rooms

The first floor of Tykeson Hall offers three private study rooms (Rooms 104, 114, and 116) for students who prefer a quiet study environment. These rooms are equipped with whiteboard walls and functional furniture. Plus, their proximity to the library and tutoring center makes them convenient for students seeking academic support.

  • Please note: Room 114 has blocks of time reserved for TRiO peer mentoring as well as financial literacy mentoring. Please abide by the posted schedule when looking to use this room.
  • These study spaces are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access Tykeson Hall on the weekends from 8 am to 10 p.m. with keycard access.

Ray Hall Atrium and Hallway Nooks

The Ray Hall Atrium is popular study spaces for students who prefer a more casual environment. Likewise, there are several hallway nooks with private study furniture. These spaces provide comfortable seating options and ample natural lighting, making them ideal for reading and studying.

  • These study spaces are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access Ray Hall on the weekends from 8 am to 10 p.m. with keycard access.

 

Graduate and Research Center

The Graduate and Research Center Equity Lounge is a dedicated space for students to study, work, and network. Equipped with tables, chairs, and a variety of amenities, this space provides all students with a comfortable and supportive environment to advance their academic and professional goals.The Equity Lounge does serve multiple uses for students, staff, and the public; please be considerate of time restrictions and other users.

Additionally, there is a multiuse lobby on the second floor near the Innovation Co-Lab and various research labs.

  • These study spaces are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access the Graduate and Research Center on the weekends from 8 am to 10 p.m. with keycard access.

Can I study in an empty classroom?

Yes! Students can use any general-purpose classroom when not in use for classes. These study spaces are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and to students with keycard access 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Students can also access these spaces on the weekends from 8 am to 10 p.m. with keycard access.
