Requests may be placed on any general OSU items available through 1Search, the library's catalog. For OSU-Cascades items staff will retrieve the item and place it on the hold shelf, which you can retrieve at the desk in the Library & Learning Commons (Tykeson 202). You will receive an email when the item is ready for pick up.
If you can't find an item on the shelf, ask Library staff for assistance with finding the item. If it still can't be found, place a request through 1Search, which will trigger additional staff to search for the item. If it's not found, staff will place a Summit request or will direct you to place an interlibrary loan request.
Requests may be placed on general collection OSU Library items that are currently checked out through the library catalog and the book becomes recalled. The recalled status blocks the patron who has it checked out from renewing and will change the due date to one week from when requested. You will receive an email when the item is ready for pick up at Circulation.
If you have an item checked out that has been requested, you receive an email of what your new due date is. You will have one week to return the item from when it was requested. Overdue fines are $2 a day.
Request items from other OSU Library locations using the 1Search. Make sure you are signed in to place the request.
To see only items At OSU Libraries Only or for OSU-Cascades items choose OSU-Cascades from the drop-down menu in the search bar.
If an item says Request this item that means it is either already checked out, or available via a Summit Library (see requesting Summit items below).
Once you have found an item you would like, click the title or Available at ...
Now you'll see the item record. This window shows you a lot of information and tools, including where the book is actually located (Valley Library, Guin Library-Newport, or OSU-Cascades), the call number to find it, if you are at that library, and even the ability to request it.
Click Request under Get It to request the book.
Fill out the request form, and make sure to choose Bend OSU-Cascades Tykeson as your Pickup Location so it can be sent here. If you are an Ecampus student, you will see a personal delivery, home address option.
Requests may take up to a week to receive, but typically about 3 business days. You can also request items by visiting the OSU-Cascades Library (Tykeson 202), or calling 541-322-2079.

Any Summit items can be requested through the library catalog for OSU faculty, staff and students. Summit is a resource sharing service, via the Orbis Cascade Alliance, involving 39 academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
To search Summit, choose the OSU Libraries + Summit scope from the drop-down menu in 1Search.
To request an item from Summit, click Request this Item.
To see which libraries own the item, click Show Libraries.
To request the item, click Place Summit request.
Fill in the form. Make sure to choose Bend OSU- Cascades Tykeson as your Pickup Location.
You will be notified via email when you item has arrived and is available for pick-up. Summit items take up to 3-5 business days to arrive.

Use the Interlibrary Loan service to request books not available at OSU or via Summit.
OSU students also have access to COCC's Barber Library. Search their catalog or visit in-person. You can also request materials located at Barber Library via 1Search, however those items may take up to a week to receive.
